The Heka Particle: Understanding the Nature of Connection
In my autobiographical story “What’s in a Name?” and elsewhere in various articles, I mention the use of the Heka particle in my magic. This article will teach you about the nature of the Heka particle and how to incorporate it into your magic, dramatically increasing the efficacy of your magic and your manifestation.
What is Magic?
Before we dive into the Heka particle, let’s take a step back and begin by exploring the question of what exactly is magic. From my perspective, consciousness is everything. We are all points of light, floating in a quantum foam, dreaming countless dreams. All of physical reality is a dream that we wrap around ourselves as a mirror of our internal reality, so that we can learn and grow when we have yet to learn to turn inwards. When we look at reality this way, we begin to see that any interaction between consciousness and the objects of consciousness is magic. Since consciousness is everything, then the objects of consciousness are themselves that same consciousness; and therefore magic is everything that consciousness does, which is everything.
And so magic is everything. Speaking is a type of magic; so is sitting, or thinking, or reading, or breathing, or living, or being. They are all magical technologies that we or our ancestors created. All of our technology is a type of magic in which consciousness indirectly alters physical reality. There are also all of the types of magic where consciousness directly alters realty. Whether we are turning on a TV or teleporting to the other side of the planet, we are doing magic either way.
Understanding the Heka Particle
Magic, like everything, is itself conscious. It is a being, like us. Heka, the Egyptian god of magic, is not a deity like Thoth that brought magic to the world. Rather, Heka is magic. They are the same thing. And in the same way that Heka is magic, Heka is also a particle, just as we are. There is a Samah particle, that is me and represents all of me, beyond only my physical body or my mind. Similarly, there is a particle that represents you, as well as a particle that represents everything else that can be conceived of.
One way to think of magic is as an interface. Since magic is any interaction between consciousness and its objects, then magic is the interface between beings, and therefore between realities. Any interaction between two or more things is a type of magic. In order for those things to interact, magic is involved; and the more skillful the magic, the better the interface.
All interfaces are magic, and therefore all interfaces contain a Heka particle. Once you recognize this, then you can begin to consciously create and remove the Heka particle between any two or more things. Creating a Heka particle between two things binds them together energetically, allowing much more powerful magic to form. When we do magical rituals to attune to an object or concept, a successful ritual results in the creation of a Heka particle, connecting your consciousness with the object or concept that was the focus of the ritual. Knowing this, you can skip the ritual entirely if you wish, and instead easily create a Heka particle.
Practical Applications
All of the work that I do with crystal grids and energetic containers involves using Heka particles. Every day, I put on a crystal pendant and create an energetic container to shape my day. If, for example, my intent were to spend my day learning about and embodying deeper levels of karuna: compassion for suffering, I would create a karuna container using one of my pendants. To create that container, I will put on a piece of crystal jewelry that resonates for me with the purpose of the container. For a karuna container, I might choose a pink crystal, like rose quartz or pink apophylllite, since that pink is the color of kindness and grace. I will then express my intent, shape that in my mind into an astral container, and reach out to a deity whose energies jibe with the container’s purpose. For a karuna container, I would wish to deepen into karuna, and I might ask Guan Yin, the Chinese goddess of love and compassion, to coordinate the container for me. I would then perceive a Heka particle forming between the intent, the astral container, Guan Yin and the crystal. If you pay careful attention, you can feel your third eye lighting up every time you create a Heka particle. Similarly, you can remove a Heka particle when you wish to easily and quickly unwind a spell.
If you wish to create a grid to coordinate more meaning-gravity into your magic, you can use the Heka particle. Start with some statues of deities that you have a relationship with. Place a crystal in front of each statue, and then a crystal at the center of the grid, towards which all of the deities are facing. You can then move through the statues one by one, visualizing the energy of the god coming down into the statue and then flowing from there into the crystal in front of it. Use a Heka particle to connect the god to the statue, and then another Heka particle to connect the energies to the crystal. The crystal then acts as a coordination point to allow more of the god’s presence into our space/time. Once you have done this with all of the statues and the crystals in front of them, visualize the energy from all of those crystals flowing to the central crystal, which acts as a collective meeting place for all of the gods, and link all of the energies to that crystal using a Heka particle. You have created a meaning-gravity grid. You can now work and meditate with it to access the meaning-gravity, and you can hold the central crystal and take it to other places, with the grid still connected energetically.
The Role of Rituals
There are infinite ways to work with the Heka particle, as there are infinite ways to do magic. The benefit of the Heka particle is that it allows you to skip the rituals (if desired) and focus on the actual energetics that are arising. As with all magic, the conscious awareness of what you are doing dramatically increases its effectiveness. Therefore, magic you create using Heka particles will be much more powerful than anything done without them. If you are doing a ritual, you can still consciously create the Heka particle at the conclusion of the ritual, making the ritual much more powerful.
And there is certainly a place for rituals! The fact that we are able to skip the ritual thanks to an understanding of the Heka particle does not mean that ritual is not important. Ritual still has value in shaping intent and creating an energy of sacredness, and it’s often fun! At its core, a wholesome life is one of serious play. We can take our lives seriously and play in every moment. The two are not mutually exclusive. Ritual is an important part of that play, and our world would be much less interesting and vibrant without it.
You can use the Heka particle to make your reality more interesting and more magical, eventually weaving it into your daily existence so that you continuously create Heka particles with barely a thought as you move through the day. Everything is magic, and when you learn to use the Heka particle, that magic becomes an obvious and lived part of your experience.
